About

Introduction

Dr. Fikret Asarcıklı is a Pediatric Hematologist and Oncologist specialising in childhood blood disorders and cancers. Through Rehealth he offers families an online second opinion in Turkish or English, and provides regular remote follow-up for chronic blood disorders such as thalassemia and hemophilia, and for post-treatment monitoring.

🩸
A Turkish and English-speaking pediatric hematologist-oncologist. You can talk through your child's blood disorder or oncology journey, and the diagnosis and treatment decisions, in your own language and at your own pace, and ask every question on your mind.

How I can help

Two kinds of support, depending on what you need: a one-off medical opinion or ongoing remote follow-up.

🩺

Medical second opinion

An independent expert review of the diagnosis, pathology and treatment plan; a second view before important decisions.

📆

Remote follow-up and monitoring

Regular online consultations to follow chronic blood disorders such as thalassemia and hemophilia, and the post-treatment period, remotely.

Background and expertise

He completed his medical degree at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine (2001–2007), one of Türkiye's most established institutions, and his residency in Pediatrics at Hacettepe (2007–2012). To specialise in blood disorders and childhood cancers, he completed his subspecialty fellowship in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Ankara University in 2016.

Combining his academic background with clinical leadership, he played an active role in establishing the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic at Ümraniye State Hospital. He later served as a specialist at Koç University Hospital and currently works at Acıbadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul. He is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of cytopenias (anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia), chronic benign blood disorders and all childhood cancers. He is a member of the Turkish Pediatric Oncology Group (TPOG), the Turkish Pediatric Hematology Association, the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) and SIOP Europe (SIOPE).

Who it's for

Who is this service for?

For families who want an expert second opinion during their child's blood disorder or cancer journey, wherever they live.

🧒

Families with a new diagnosis

Parents whose child has been diagnosed with a blood disorder (anemia, thalassemia, bleeding disorder) or cancer (leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumor) and who want to understand the process.

🔎

A second opinion before deciding

Those who want an independent expert review before starting a proposed treatment plan (chemotherapy, stem cell transplant).

🌍

Families living abroad

Families in Europe who want to review their child's diagnosis or treatment with an experienced specialist, in Turkish or English.

What can I give a second opinion on?

You can get an expert assessment of your child's blood and oncology health in the areas below.

🩺 Assessment and second opinion

  • Cytopenias: anemia, thrombocytopenia and neutropenia.
  • Bleeding disorders: hemophilia and coagulation disorders.
  • Thalassemia syndromes and congenital hemolytic anemias.
  • Congenital bone marrow failure syndromes.
  • Leukemia and lymphoma: reviewing the diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Solid tumors: personalised pathways in childhood cancers.
  • Treatment decisions: assessment before chemotherapy or a stem cell transplant.

📆 Remote follow-up and monitoring

  • Chronic blood disorders: regular remote monitoring for thalassemia and hemophilia.
  • Congenital anemias: long-term follow-up and review of test results.
  • Post-treatment long-term follow-up: regular monitoring for possible late effects.
  • Regular online consultations: periodic review of the process and test results.

How does it work?

A structured, transparent online consultation, from start to finish in your own language.

1

Upload your documents

Add your test, pathology, imaging and discharge reports to Rehealth's end-to-end encrypted, GDPR-compliant platform.

2

Online consultation

The process, diagnosis and treatment options are discussed carefully in the language you are most comfortable in.

3

Written report

The clinical opinion and guidance are recorded as an official second opinion in your digital health record.

4

Download and share

Download the report as a PDF and share it in one tap with your child's treating team.

Beyond a single consultation, regular remote follow-up can also be arranged for chronic conditions and the post-treatment period. This opinion does not replace your child's treating physician and team; it offers a complementary, independent expert view for your decisions.

Why do I offer online second opinions?

"For me, being a physician goes beyond diagnosing and planning treatments; it is about turning the fear in a little child's eyes into a smile and lightening the burden on you, the parents, during these challenging times. I firmly believe that every child is unique and deserves an equally unique, dedicated approach."

Frequently asked questions

The questions families ask most.

Can I get an online pediatric hematology-oncology second opinion from a Turkish-speaking specialist in Europe?

Yes. The consultation can be fully in Turkish or English. Wherever you live, you join online from anywhere with an internet connection.

Can I get an online second opinion for my child without a GP referral?

Yes. No referral or waiting list is needed. You book directly and reach an expert opinion quickly.

Will I get a written report I can share with my child's treating team?

Yes. The clinical opinion is recorded as a digital medical report in your health record; you can download it as a PDF and share it with your child's treating team.

Is it safe to upload my child's tests and data to this platform?

All records and test results are uploaded to Rehealth's end-to-end encrypted, GDPR-compliant platform and stored securely.

My child has just been diagnosed with a blood disorder or cancer; can I get a second opinion before treatment?

Yes. You can review the diagnosis, pathology and imaging results together and assess the treatment plan against current approaches, as an independent second view. This does not replace your child's treating team.

Can I get an opinion before starting a proposed treatment (chemotherapy, stem cell transplant)?

Yes. A second opinion before an important treatment decision is a natural part of responsible care; it helps you clarify the options and expectations in your own language.

Common concerns

My child has thalassemia, hemophilia or a congenital anemia; can I get an assessment and opinion?

Yes. For chronic benign blood disorders (thalassemia, hemophilia, congenital anemias, bone marrow failure) you can have your existing tests and reports reviewed and discuss your process.

My child's blood test showed low values (anemia, low platelets or neutrophils); what does it mean?

Cytopenias can have many causes. We can review your existing tests and history, discuss what they might mean and, if needed, which steps are appropriate.

My child completed leukemia or lymphoma treatment; can I get an opinion for long-term follow-up?

Yes. Long-term follow-up after treatment is important for monitoring possible late effects; you can discuss your process and questions in your own language.

My child has a chronic blood disorder such as thalassemia or hemophilia; is regular remote follow-up possible?

Yes. For chronic blood disorders and the post-treatment period, remote follow-up through regular online consultations can be arranged; you share your tests, we review the course together and discuss next steps when needed.

In an emergency with my child, is an online second opinion enough?

No. An online second opinion is not a substitute for emergency care. For fever, bleeding, severe fatigue or other acute symptoms, contact your child's treating team or local emergency services without delay.

Three ways to start, one account everywhere:

Important medical notice: An online medical second opinion is not a substitute for urgent or emergency care; it complements your child's treating physician and team and does not replace them. If there is fever, bleeding, severe fatigue or other acute symptoms, please contact your child's treating team or local emergency services without delay. It does not provide any guarantee or promise of cure.
