How much does plastic surgery abroad cost, and why is it more affordable?
Plastic surgery in our network is often substantially cheaper than equivalent procedures in the UK, the Netherlands, or Germany. Most partner hospitals and clinics follow international surgical standards and accreditation. The gap comes from lower operational costs and favorable exchange rates, not from cheaper materials or less experienced surgeons. For now most patients travel to our partners in Turkey, with more European countries joining the network.
The figures below are starting prices in our network. Once you share the details of your case with us, the hospital prepares a quote for you personally, and that quote can come out above or below the starting prices below.

So will insurance cover this?
For cosmetic surgery the short answer is no. Purely aesthetic procedures sit outside most public and private policies in Europe. That is why the figures above are private, self-funded prices.
But would my case count as medical? That depends, and your own insurer decides it. These are the situations where a medical indication is usually discussed:
- Upper eyelids that block your field of vision
- Breast size causing documented back or shoulder pain
- Excess skin after major weight loss
- Lipoedema, which is a medical condition rather than an aesthetic one
- Reconstruction after illness or injury
- Functional nose surgery where breathing is affected
We cannot tell you that any of these will be covered. What we can tell you is which question to put to your insurer. Ask for the answer in writing.
Does my travel insurance protect me? Most travel policies exclude elective surgery. The same often applies to a complication arising from it. Read that clause in your policy before you book a flight.

Yes, we do packages. Not in one go, though. Ours settle in two stages, and that gap is our most important difference.
Stage one: the starting package. This is the published price you see on this page. For rhinoplasty it starts at €2,800 and covers accommodation and airport transfers. What a package covers is not identical for every procedure. The team walks you through yours during the call.
Stage two: the updated package. You upload your photos and medical records, and they go to the surgeon. Once the surgeon has seen your case, the package is updated. Your figure may stay the same, it may go up, and sometimes it comes down.
Almost everywhere else the price is locked before anyone has looked at your case. It is calculated for an average patient, not for you. Then a conversation about extra costs turns up close to the operating table. In our network the figure settles after the surgeon has seen the case.

The starting prices on this page are the lowest prices in our network, not a quote. After stage two your own figure can come out above or below them, and it comes from the hospital rather than from us.
Who is a good candidate, and when the honest answer is no
A clinic that says yes to every patient is not necessarily acting in your interest. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons publishes conditions that should be met before a procedure is appropriate. It is worth checking them against your own situation before you spend anything.

What does recovery actually look like, procedure by procedure?
Recovery decides how much time you need to take off work, so it is worth knowing the figures before you book anything. Below is what the American Society of Plastic Surgeons states for the procedures our patients ask about most.

Is plastic surgery abroad safe, and why Rehealth?

Plastic surgery trips are longer than most medical trips because recovery starts before you fly home. The exact timeline depends on the procedure: an eyelid surgery is faster than a tummy tuck, and combination surgery needs more recovery time. Here's roughly what to plan for.
Days 1-2, Arrival and pre-op
You meet the hospital or clinic medical team in person, complete pre-op tests (bloodwork, ECG, anesthesia clearance), confirm the surgical plan, and have new photos taken for the medical record.
Day 2-3, Surgery
Most procedures are done under general anesthesia, with an overnight stay at the hospital or clinic. Smaller procedures such as eyelid surgery can be day cases.
Days 4-10, Recovery on site
You stay nearby for monitored recovery, including wound checks, drain removal where needed, and clearance from the surgeon and anesthetist before you can fly. Plan 7 to 10 days on site for most procedures, 10 to 14 days for larger combined surgeries.
Weeks 2-6 and beyond, Follow-up at home
Aftercare continues through the app: scheduled photo check-ins, recovery questions, and surgeon messages. How long the final result takes depends on the procedure, and it is one of the things to ask the team treating you. Rhinoplasty is the slowest: the American Society of Plastic Surgeons notes that initial swelling subsides within a few weeks, but it may take up to a year for the new nasal contour to fully refine.

The free planning call connects you with the hospital or clinic team to discuss the procedure, costs, and travel logistics. It is not a medical consultation. A paid second opinion connects you with a licensed plastic surgeon who reviews your case and gives you a structured medical perspective on whether the procedure is right for you, what alternatives exist, and what to expect.
Is plastic surgery abroad safe?
It can be, when you choose a verified hospital or clinic and a qualified surgeon. Every hospital, clinic, and plastic surgeon in our network is reviewed and verified by our medical advisory board before joining. Partners follow international surgical standards, anesthesia protocols, and post-op monitoring. The risks of plastic surgery abroad come mostly from booking through unverified channels and from rushing into procedures without proper assessment, not from the destination itself. Most current patients travel to our partners in Turkey, where plastic surgery standards are well established.
What happens if I'm not happy with the result or need a revision?
Revision terms are set by the hospital, not by us, and they differ from one partner to another. Ask the team directly during your video consultation what a revision would cover, within what period it applies, and what falls outside it. Ask to have the answer in writing before you commit to anything. Aesthetic results take time to settle (months, not weeks), so revisions are normally only considered once healing is complete. Your surgeon stays reachable through the Rehealth app for photo follow-ups and discussions about whether a revision is appropriate.
What happens if I have a complication after I return home?
Your surgeon stays reachable through the Rehealth app for routine recovery questions. If something more serious comes up, contact your home-country GP or an emergency service first. Their assessment, photos, and notes can then be shared with your surgeon abroad so the care is coordinated. The hospital or clinic where you were operated remains responsible for the post-operative care that's part of their plan.
How long do I need to stay abroad for plastic surgery?
For smaller procedures like eyelid surgery, plan for about 5 to 7 days on site. For breast surgery, rhinoplasty, or liposuction, plan 7 to 10 days. For tummy tuck or combination procedures like a mommy makeover, plan 10 to 14 days. You should not fly home before your surgeon and anesthetist have cleared you, which usually involves a final wound check and removal of drains if any.
When can I fly after a nose job?
Your surgeon decides this, not the calendar. In our network patients usually stay 7 to 10 days after rhinoplasty. At the end of that a final check is done. Any packing and the splint come off, then you are cleared to fly. Do not lock in your return ticket before that clearance. One extra day on site beats trouble on the way home.
Will my insurance cover any of this?
Most aesthetic plastic surgery (cosmetic rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, liposuction, facelift, eyelid surgery for purely cosmetic reasons) is not reimbursed by EU public or private insurers. Reconstructive procedures (breast reconstruction after mastectomy, scar revision, post-trauma reconstruction, functional rhinoplasty for breathing problems, breast reduction with documented back or shoulder issues) may be partially covered, depending on your insurer's policy and the medical indication. Contact your insurer before you travel to confirm what they will and will not reimburse.

How much does rhinoplasty cost in the Netherlands?
Cosmetic rhinoplasty in the Netherlands is privately funded, so it comes out of your own pocket. Each clinic sets its own price and they differ. The comparison table on this page gives an indicative range. For a firm figure, ask Dutch clinics for a quote as well. In our network rhinoplasty starts at 2,800 euro, and that starting package covers accommodation and airport transfers. If there is a functional reason such as a breathing problem, the picture changes. Your insurer decides that.
Is lipoedema a cosmetic procedure?
No. Lipoedema is a medical condition, not an aesthetic choice. Liposuction is used in lipoedema too, but the planning and the goal are different. If you have a lipoedema diagnosis or suspect one, say so at the start of the call. That way the team asks the right questions from the beginning and your case is assessed accordingly.
Can I combine multiple procedures in one trip?
Yes, this is very common (for example a mommy makeover, or rhinoplasty with chin contouring). Whether combining is safe in your case is a medical decision the surgeon makes based on your overall health, the operating time, and the recovery profile of each procedure. Some combinations are routine. Others are split into two trips for safety reasons.
How do I pay?
Payment is made directly to the hospital or clinic, usually by card or bank transfer at the time of surgery. Some partners accept partial payment up front and the rest after completion. Your planning call covers payment options and what's included in the quoted price (anesthesia, hospital stay, garments, follow-up, accommodation) in detail, before you commit to anything.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes, and for plastic surgery we strongly encourage it. Traveling with a partner, family member, or close friend makes recovery much easier, especially in the first few days after surgery. They're not part of the surgical cost, but the coordinator can help with accommodation suggestions for both of you.
What about the language barrier?
Language support differs from one hospital to another. Each hospital and clinic profile lists the languages they offer, and you can filter by language when choosing your hospital or clinic. For surgery this matters more than for routine care, since you'll be discussing risks, anesthesia, and aftercare.
How do you select your hospitals, clinics, and surgeons?
Every potential partner is reviewed by our medical advisory board before joining the network. The review covers the surgical credentials of the team, the facilities and equipment, anesthesia and ICU support, sterilization protocols, and the track record on outcomes, complications, and patient communication.
What if I'm not ready to commit yet?
That's fine, and for plastic surgery it's often the right approach. The planning call is free and carries no obligation.
